Evan Edwards was born and raised in upstate New York “some place near Buffalo…” At an early age he knew that there’s “…gotta be more than a one light town where the light is always red.” While digging in the back yard looking for diamonds, he announced to his dad that he wanted to be an archeologist when he grew up.

Evan’s mom took him to see his first play Once Upon a Clothesline. He didn’t move (or even breathe) during the entire performance. Quite impressive for a 6 year old.

His next brush with the theatre world came in the third grade when his best friend, who had the lead in the school play, became mysteriously ill the day of the performance. Their teacher, Mrs. Clark, asked if anyone could learn the whole play in two hours. Evan raised his hand and said “I can do that!”

Two hours later the play went off with out a hitch. Yet never did Evan even consider Acting as a career. Evan “dreamed a dream” as time went by. Some of those dream careers included architecture, cosmetology and operatic costume design.

Suburbia and Evan’s Mom kept life “…very middle class and very straight…” Every dinner had the entire family in attendance. In school Honor Roll, awards for academic excellence, and Junior Achievers kept Evan very busy. His parents kept him on the fast track to becoming the quintessential son: a doctor or lawyer.

At the start of the 10th grade Evan had decided to become an accountant. He was good at it and it was easy. According to his mom and dad he needed more extracurricular activities for his college applications. He put it off joining anything until the last possible moment. He promised his mom that the very next day he was going to “…get up, get out, and do it”. What ever club had a meeting he was joining.

In home room the next day Evan listened to the announcements. His fate was sealed that morning. There was only one club meeting that day: The Drama Club.
